Terry Kelly has conducted research on sustainable and organic agricultural systems for over twenty years, and has been a practitioner in rural economic development in various different capacities since 1975. A development economist by training, he has worked in cross-cultural situations in four different countries. His research has focussed on the socio-economic aspects of organic and sustainable agricultural systems and natural resource management, and has cut across a variety of collaborative programmes. While at Massey University, he taught papers (undergraduate and postgraduate) in Organic Farming Systems, Sustainable Agriculture, Participatory Resource Management, and Research Methods. Prior to coming to New Zealand in 1995, Terry worked with the Agricultural Research Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture on their Sustainable Agriculture Project.
